"Unplugged" Wedding Trend

The world of social media sharing has been awesome. I can share all my food and happenings with my friends all the time. They "like" it and I get a sense of joy out of it. I'm just as guilty as the next instagram food photographer..

The ugly side of that? The internal need to share everything, always. I found a blog somewhere that showed a view of the crowd at a wedding before cell phones and after. I'm bummed because I can't find it anywhere but basically the pre-phone wedding had everyone sitting there watching the wedding. Now this is usually the scene:  Modern Day Wedding.

.

I will argue that not every single wedding is like this, but I can't tell you how often I have ceremony photos with iPhones and iPads blocking my view. Granted, the wedding isn't all about me but I'm sure the bride and the groom would appreciate their guests watching the wedding as they've paid a lot of money to have someone else worry about taking images for them.

.

Regardless of your beliefs, I wanted to share with you something that one of my more recent couples did.

TurnOffPhone

This is what it says:

"Be Nice. Turn Off Your Device"

We want you to really enjoy our wedding day, feeling truly present and in the moment with us. We've hired an incredible wedding photographer who will capture the way the wedding looks. We invite each of you to sit back, relax, and enjoy how the evening feels. We respectfully ask that everyone leave all cameras and video cameras off and cell phone on vibrate only during our time together, including the reception. We ask you to refrain so that we can see your face, and so you can see ours, both in the moment and forever in the photos that our photographer will capture. Of course we will be happy to share our wedding photos with you afterwards, as they are our images to keep.

.

Something to think about if you're worried about it!
